Job Summary
Monitors patients for and provides education on food and drug interactions. Records food and drug interactions in the education section. Consults with physicians regarding appropriate diet modifications.
Job Responsibilities

Screens and assesses patients accurately and in a timely manner based on levels of care

Determines patients’ nutritional needs and status and provides follow-up care

Interviews patients and/or families to obtain food history, habits, and preferences
-
Interprets relevant laboratory, physical, and social data from the medical record as it relates to nutrition care
-
Provides nutrition education and documents diet instructions and patient understanding in the education section

Modifies patient menus as needed
Required Skills & Experience

Minimum of one (1) year of experience
Preferred Skills & Experience

Two (2) years of experience
Required Education
-
Graduate of an accredited college or university with a degree in Dietetics or Foods and Nutrition
Preferred Education

Master’s degree
Required Certifications & Licensure

Post-Acute Locations:
-
New York State Certification issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) as a Dietitian-Nutritionist

Registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian (Primary Source Verification required)

AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)
Special Note – Post-Acute Care (Long-Term Care) Dietitians
Under Medicare and Medicaid regulations (42 CFR §483.60), all newly hired dietitians assigned to Post-Acute Care (Long-Term Care) facilities must hold New York State Certification issued by NYSED as a Dietitian-Nutritionist at the time of hire.
Pay Rate
$56.14 - $61.02/hour
