Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Sterile Processing Technician to support surgical and procedural areas by ensuring the proper cleaning, sterilization, assembly, and distribution of medical instruments and equipment. The Sterile Processing Technician plays a critical role in maintaining patient safety by following strict infection prevention standards, sterilization protocols, and regulatory requirements while preparing instruments for clinical use.
Key Responsibilities:
• Decontaminate, clean, inspect, assemble, package, sterilize, and distribute surgical instruments and medical equipment
• Follow established sterilization procedures, infection prevention guidelines, and department protocols
• Operate sterilization equipment including autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners, and other processing equipment
• Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and proper condition before sterilization and use
• Assemble surgical instrument trays according to established procedures and surgical requirements
• Maintain accurate documentation of sterilization processes, biological monitoring, and instrument tracking
• Perform quality checks to ensure instruments meet safety and regulatory standards
• Store and organize sterile supplies and surgical instruments appropriately
• Transport instruments and supplies to operating rooms and procedural areas as needed
• Collaborate with operating room staff, nurses, surgeons, and healthcare teams to support surgical workflows
• Identify damaged or missing instruments and report issues appropriately
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe sterile processing environment
• Follow OSHA, infection control, and facility safety standards
• Participate in inventory management and supply control activities
Required Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Completion of an accredited Sterile Processing Technician program preferred
• Current Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) preferred/required based on facility requirements
• Minimum 1–2 years of recent sterile processing experience preferred
• Knowledge of surgical instruments, sterilization techniques, and infection prevention practices
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow strict procedures
• Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Ability to stand for extended periods and handle surgical instruments/equipment
• Experience with electronic tracking systems preferred
Pay Rate
$58.56 - $63.43/hour
