Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room (OR) to provide safe and efficient perioperative nursing care to surgical patients. The OR RN will support surgical procedures by preparing patients, coordinating care, maintaining sterile practices, assisting the surgical team, and ensuring quality patient outcomes throughout the perioperative process. This role requires strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and effective collaboration with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.


Key Responsibilities:

• Provide professional nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures in the Operating Room
• Perform pre-operative patient assessments, review medical history, and verify surgical readiness
• Ensure proper patient identification, surgical consent, procedure verification, and safety checks
• Prepare operating rooms, equipment, supplies, and medications according to surgical requirements
• Assist with patient positioning, skin preparation, and surgical site verification
• Maintain strict sterile technique and follow surgical safety protocols throughout procedures
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and healthcare teams during procedures
• Monitor patient condition, vital signs, and responses to anesthesia and surgical interventions
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments according to physician orders and facility protocols
• Perform circulating nurse responsibilities, including documentation, patient advocacy, and coordination of surgical workflow
• Assist with surgical counts of instruments, sponges, and supplies to ensure patient safety
• Handle specimens appropriately according to facility policies
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical records (EMR)
• Provide post-operative care instructions and support patient recovery needs
• Follow infection prevention practices, regulatory standards, and surgical safety guidelines
• Participate in emergency procedures and support quality improvement initiatives


Required Qualifications:

• Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
• Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN preferred)
• Current BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required/preferred based on facility requirements
• Minimum 1–2 years of recent Operating Room RN experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing practices, surgical procedures, and sterile technique
• Excellent clinical assessment, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment
• Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems preferred
• Commitment to patient safety and high-quality surgical care

Pay Rate
$58.56 - $63.43/hour
