Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Electrophysiology (EP Lab) to provide specialized nursing care for patients undergoing cardiac electrophysiology procedures. The EP RN will assist with diagnostic and interventional procedures, monitor patient status, administer medications and moderate sedation, and collaborate with electrophysiologists and the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and prepare patients for electrophysiology procedures and interventions
- Assist physicians during EP studies, cardiac ablations, pacemaker, ICD, and cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) device implantations
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and moderate sedation in accordance with facility policies
- Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms, hemodynamic status, vital signs, and patient responses during procedures
- Recognize and respond promptly to cardiac arrhythmias, emergencies, and changes in patient condition
- Operate and assist with EP Lab equipment, mapping systems, recording systems, and cardiac monitoring devices
- Provide pre-procedure and post-procedure patient education and discharge instructions
- Maintain accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Collaborate with electrophysiologists, cardiologists, anesthesia providers, radiology staff, and other healthcare professionals
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, radiation safety standards, and facility policies
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program
- Current BLS certification required
- Current ACLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of recent Electrophysiology Lab, Cardiac Cath Lab, Critical Care, or Cardiovascular nursing experience preferred
- Experience with cardiac rhythm interpretation, moderate sedation, and hemodynamic monitoring
- Strong knowledge of electrophysiology procedures, cardiac devices, and emergency cardiac care
- Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Experience with 3D cardiac mapping systems (e.g., CARTO, EnSite, or Rhythmia)
- Experience assisting with pacemaker, ICD, CRT, and lead extraction procedures
- Previous travel or contract nursing experience preferred
- Cardiac Vascular Nursing Certification (CV-BC) or RCES certification preferred
- Strong teamwork, adaptability, and ability to work in a fast-paced procedural environment
Pay Rate
$68.09 - $72.97/hour
