Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to provide inpatient rehabilitation services under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. The PTA will help patients improve mobility, strength, balance, transfers, and functional independence during their hospital stay.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement individualized treatment plans developed by the Physical Therapist.
- Provide therapeutic exercises, gait training, balance activities, and functional mobility interventions.
- Assist patients with bed mobility, transfers, ambulation, and stair training.
- Monitor patient response to treatment and report changes or concerns to the Physical Therapist.
- Assist with safe use of walkers, wheelchairs, canes, and other assistive devices.
- Educate patients and caregivers on mobility, exercises, safety, and home programs.
- Follow appropriate precautions for fall risk, weight-bearing status, lines, tubes, and other patient restrictions.
- Maintain accurate and timely treatment documentation in the EMR.
- Communicate patient progress with the Physical Therapist and interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Collaborate with nurses, physicians, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Follow infection prevention, HIPAA, patient safety, and hospital policies.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Active PTA license in the state of practice.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Minimum 1 year of recent PTA experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of therapeutic exercise, mobility training, transfers, and rehabilitation techniques.
- Excellent communication, clinical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with medically complex and hospitalized patients.
- Experience with EMR systems preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous inpatient hospital or acute care experience.
- Experience with orthopedic, neurological, cardiac, geriatric, and post-surgical patients.
- Familiarity with fall precautions, weight-bearing restrictions, and acute-care safety protocols.
- Strong teamwork and time-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment.
- Commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.
Pay Rate
$37.60 - $42.48/hour
