Pharmacy Tech-The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting the pharmacist in the maintenance of pharmacy drug distribution system, with a focus on quality and accuracy, patient care, and customer service. This includes, but is not limited to packaging and delivering medications, assisting in inventory control, stocking supplies, and verifying stock in order to maintain inventory records. Under supervision of a pharmacist, and consistent with state, federal and local regulations, prepare medication orders for final check by pharmacist: Fills and delivers medication carts accurately and timely, Manages Pyxis Inventory,Ensures medications are delivered to patient care areas in a timely manner, Performs monthly nursing unit inspections for quality assurance and communicates any immediate problems to a supervisor for correction,Interacts with staff members and completes other duties as assigned by pharmacists or supervisor.

1. Fills and delivers medication carts
accurately and timely (40%)
Prints/Reprints fills lists, catch up reports, and labels as
necessary
Maintains returned medications
Indentifies issues left in cart
Performs cart exchange per hospital policy to ensure
nurses have access to their patients' medications
2. Manages Pyxis Inventory (20%) Accurately selects and loads medications, including
controlled substances
Organizes according to ISMP saftey initiatives
Evaluates medication use trends to maintain
appropriate par levels
Ensures removal of expired/damaged products in a
timely manner
Resolves discrepencies and technical issues when
appropriate
3. Ensures medications are delivered to
patient care areas in a timely manner (10%)
Performs hourly deliveries per hospital polciy and as
needed
Returns and puts away unused medications from the
units
Disposes of pharmaceutical waste in appropriate waste
containers
4. Assists in Department's inventory
management (10%)
Maintains organization and inventory in pharmacy
storeroom
Utilizes order book to maintain inventory PAR levels
Checks deliveries against invoices and alerts
supervisor of discrepencies
Performs bar code checks on all items prior to stocking
shelves
Assists with ordering as assigned
5. Performs monthly nursing unit inspections for quality assurance and communicates any immediate problems to a supervisor for correction
(10%)
Checks nursing units for expired or returned
medications per hospital policy
Monitors temperature logs for all refrigerators and
warmers containing medication
6. Prepares medications with oversight of pharmacist (10%)
Correctly determines the number of doses to be sent
Accurately prepares IV medications, including proper
expiration dating
Follows IV room regulations regarding garbing and
cleaning
Repackages unit dose medications using the PakEDGE software and repackaing equipment

Experience -
Prior experience in a hospital pharmacy or another relevant healthcare environment preffered
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to deliver exceptional customer service

Certs- Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) Certification or Pharmacy Intern License preffered
Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to
specific areas of expertise.

Equipment - Pak-EDGE software and medical packaging, Barcoding, prioritization capabilities, and exceptional
communication and customer service skills.

Pay Rate
$41.54 - $46.42/hour
