Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room Circulator to provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care during surgical procedures. The OR Circulator RN is responsible for coordinating patient care before, during, and after surgery, maintaining a safe and sterile environment, and ensuring seamless communication among the surgical team to promote optimal patient outcomes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the circulating nurse during surgical procedures across various specialties.
  • Prepare operating rooms with appropriate equipment, instruments, and sterile supplies.
  • Verify patient identity, surgical procedure, and surgical site according to established safety protocols.
  • Assist with patient positioning, skin preparation, and maintaining a sterile surgical environment.
  • Monitor patient condition throughout surgery and respond to changes promptly.
  • Document intraoperative care, surgical counts, specimens, implants, and medications accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Coordinate communication between surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, PACU staff, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ensure compliance with AORN standards, infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, and patient safety policies.
  • Assist with surgical counts and ensure proper handling of specimens and equipment.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
  • Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • ACLS certification preferred or required based on facility requirements.
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Operating Room circulating experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing, sterile technique, surgical procedures, and patient safety.
  • Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred.

Pay Rate
$75.71 - $80.59/hour
