Position Summary:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and compassionate Oncology Clinical Pharmacist to provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care for oncology patients. The Clinical Pharmacist will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize medication therapy, manage chemotherapy regimens, ensure medication safety, and provide patient education while supporting evidence-based oncology care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review, verify, and optimize chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and supportive care medication orders.
- Monitor patients for medication effectiveness, adverse drug reactions, and potential drug interactions.
- Participate in multidisciplinary oncology rounds and collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Provide pharmacokinetic monitoring and dosage adjustments based on patient-specific factors.
- Educate patients and caregivers regarding chemotherapy, medication administration, side effects, and supportive care.
- Prepare and oversee the safe handling of hazardous medications in accordance with USP and USP standards.
- Ensure compliance with oncology treatment protocols, institutional policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Participate in medication safety initiatives, formulary management, quality improvement projects, and clinical research as applicable.
- Serve as a drug information resource for healthcare providers and support staff.
- Precept pharmacy residents, students, and pharmacy staff when applicable.
Required Qualifications:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited college of pharmacy.
- Active Pharmacist license in the state of practice.
- Current BLS certification preferred or required based on facility requirements.
- Completion of a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency or equivalent clinical experience preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of recent oncology pharmacy experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, supportive care medications, and oncology treatment guidelines.
- Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and oncology pharmacy software preferred.
Pay Rate
$136,000.00 - $200,000.00/year
