Job Description: Nuclear Medicine Technologist
A Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for preparing and administering radioactive drugs used in diagnostic imaging and therapeutic procedures. This role involves operating specialized imaging equipment, monitoring patient safety, and collaborating with physicians to produce accurate diagnostic results.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients according to physician instructions and safety standards.
- Operate nuclear medicine imaging equipment, including gamma cameras and PET/CT scanners.
- Perform diagnostic imaging procedures and ensure high-quality image acquisition.
- Monitor patients during procedures and respond appropriately to adverse reactions or emergencies.
- Maintain accurate patient records, imaging data, and procedure documentation.
- Follow radiation safety protocols to protect patients, staff, and self.
- Calibrate and maintain imaging equipment to ensure proper functionality.
- Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, and healthcare staff to support patient care and diagnosis.
- Educate patients about procedures, preparation requirements, and post-procedure instructions.
Required Skills & Experience
- One (1) year of Nuclear Medicine Technology experience.
- Experience operating relevant nuclear medicine imaging equipment.
- Knowledge of radiopharmaceutical preparation and radiation safety standards.
- Strong patient care and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in imaging procedures and documentation.
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or related field.
- Certification in Nuclear Medicine Technology preferred or required per state regulations.
- Current CPR/BLS certification may be required.
Pay Rate
$79.58 - $84.46/hour
