Position Summary:
We are seeking a flexible and adaptable Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical-Surgical to provide high-quality nursing care across Medical-Surgical units based on staffing and patient care needs. The RN will assess patients, administer treatments, monitor patient progress, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure safe, patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized nursing care plans
- Provide direct nursing care for adult medical and surgical patients with a variety of acute conditions
- Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and other prescribed treatments
- Monitor patient conditions, vital signs, laboratory results, and responses to treatment
- Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and medical emergencies
- Float between Medical-Surgical units as assigned to meet staffing needs
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, treatments, and discharge planning
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, pharmacists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals
- Maintain accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing education activities
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program
- Current BLS certification required
- ACLS certification preferred or required based on assignment
- Minimum 1 year of recent Medical-Surgical nursing experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of acute care nursing, medication administration, patient assessment, and post-operative care
- Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred
- Ability to adapt quickly and work effectively in different Medical-Surgical units
Preferred Qualifications:
- BSN preferred
- CMSRN or MEDSURG-BC certification preferred
- Previous float pool or travel nursing experience preferred
- Experience caring for diverse adult medical and surgical patient populations
- Strong teamwork, flexibility, and patient education skills
- Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call schedules as required
Pay Rate
$52.85 - $57.72/hour
