Clinical Consultation on Medications
- Provide consultation regarding medications prescribed to clients by external healthcare providers.
- Review medication information with clinical staff to ensure understanding of:
- medication purpose and classification
- potential side effects
- contraindications
- monitoring considerations
- Support staff in recognizing and responding to potential medication-related concerns or side effects.
- Provide periodic staff education and training related to medications commonly used within the client population.
- Serve as a resource to the clinical team regarding general medication safety and wellness considerations.
LPN Supervision
- Provide clinical supervision and oversight for the program’s Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
- Review and approve clinical procedures conducted by the LPN within the scope of the program’s services.
- Provide guidance regarding health monitoring, medication administration procedures, and client wellness checks.
Crisis Safety Oversight
- Provide medical oversight related to time-limited physical restraint orders used during behavioral crises when clients present with:
- high levels of self-injurious behavior
- aggression toward others
- Review and approve restraint orders completed by the LPN when necessary to ensure client safety.
- Ensure procedures align with program policy, clinical standards, and applicable regulations.
Client Health Monitoring Support
- Provide guidance regarding wellness checks conducted by the LPN during behavioral crisis interventions.
- Review procedures for monitoring clients placed in restraints, including:
- vital signs
- 15-minute wellness checks
- documentation standards
Compliance and Best Practices
- Support the organization in maintaining safe and ethical medical consultation practices.
- Assist in reviewing and updating policies related to:
- medication consultation
- crisis safety procedures
- health monitoring protocols
- Collaborate with program leadership to ensure services meet relevant state, clinical, and regulatory standards.
Skills:
- • Licensed Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the State of Ohio Active, unrestricted license in good standing (Required - 1 years)
- • Experience working with behavioral health, developmental disabilities, pediatrics, or community mental health populations (Desired)
- • Strong knowledge of common psychiatric and behavioral health medications (Desired)
- • Ability to provide consultation and clinical training to interdisciplinary teams (Desired)
Education:
- Master’s Degree - Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) (Required)
- Bachelor’s Degree - Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) (Required)
- High School Diploma (Required)
Pay Rate
$48.00 - $80.00/hour
