POSITION SUMMARY: The Inpatient Registered Dietitian plans, coordinates and participates in the nutritional care process of the in-patient population, assuring that quality nutritional care is provided. The Registered Dietitian will coordinate with food service staff, nursing and medical staff in an effort to ensure a clear understanding of patient needs is achieved and that diet-related physician orders are followed. This position will cover for the outpatient dietitian as needed. This position will participate in quality improvement programs concerning clinical services. This position will participate in the Joint Commission process, yearly reviewing standards and scoring guidelines with the Food Services Manager.
ESSENTIAL JOB COMPETENCIES:
1.Teamwork: Attends discharge planning rounds on assigned areas and regularly is in contact with unit supervisors and nurses to enhance patient nutritional care.
2.Documentation: Maintains notes in patient's medical record which document care provided, including nutritional screens, assessments, and instructions given and patient progress.
3.Patient Care: Provides nutritional care and visits patients regularly in assigned work area to determine adequacy and appropriateness of both diet order and oral intake.
4.Department Operation: Shares responsibility for weekend/holiday coverage of inpatient needs with outpatient dietitian.
5.Education: Maintains registration with American Dietetic Association/ Commission on Dietetic Registration.
6.Quality of Services: Is responsible for department’s operational excellence; assures department delivers quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and professional standards.
7.Patient Education: Provides nutritional care to outpatients in a timely fashion according to standard policies and procedures.
8.Communication: Effectively communicates departmental, organization, and industry information to staff. Confers regularly with medical staff.

Required skills and minimum years of experience.
AK licensure; Bachelor’s degree in nutrition
Completed dietetic internship
Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required.
AK licensure, BLS
Shift or schedule requirements.
Day shift and weekend day shifts.
Floating to other units/departments.
Med Surg, ICU, OB – where needed including some OutPatient
Bed size/number of rooms/daily specimen/procedure count for this unit/dept.
49 bed
Nurse to patient ratio of this unit.
Patients seen from 8a-430 in clinic setting.

Pay Rate
$17.00 - $17.00/hour
