Emergency Psych RN
Position Summary
We are seeking an Emergency Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) to provide safe and compassionate care to patients experiencing acute behavioral health or psychiatric crises. The RN will assess patients, administer medications, support crisis stabilization, and collaborate with the behavioral health and emergency care team.
Responsibilities
- Assess patients experiencing acute psychiatric or behavioral health crises.
- Monitor mental status, behavior, vital signs, and overall clinical condition.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Support crisis intervention, stabilization, and de-escalation efforts.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
- Identify and promptly report changes in patient condition or safety concerns.
- Assist with psychiatric evaluations, treatment planning, and patient observation.
- Provide education and support to patients and families when appropriate.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, physicians, therapists, social workers, and emergency staff.
- Follow patient safety, infection control, and behavioral health standards.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
- Nursing degree from an accredited program.
- Previous psychiatric, emergency department, behavioral health, or crisis-care experience preferred.
- Strong assessment, communication, crisis-management, and de-escalation skills.
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred or required based on role requirements.
- Ability to remain calm and provide patient-centered care in high-acuity situations.
Pay Rate
$60.47 - $65.35/hour
