Director of Nursing (DON) – Job Description
The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for overseeing the nursing department and ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality patient/resident care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs.
- Develop and maintain nursing policies, procedures, and standards.
- Monitor the quality of patient/resident care and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Manage staffing, scheduling, and nursing department operations.
- Conduct staff training, orientation, and performance evaluations.
- Review patient care plans, assessments, and clinical documentation.
- Collaborate with physicians, administrators, residents, families, and other healthcare professionals.
- Monitor infection control, medication management, and patient safety practices.
- Address clinical concerns, incidents, and changes in patient/resident conditions.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and facility regulations.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and audits.
- Provide leadership and support to the nursing team.
Pay Rate
$67.13 - $72.00/hour
