CVOR Registered Nurse (RN)
Provide specialized perioperative nursing care for patients undergoing cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgical procedures. The CVOR RN will prepare patients and the operating room, maintain sterile technique, support surgical procedures, and ensure safe, high-quality patient care throughout the surgical process.
Responsibilities
- Perform preoperative patient assessments and review surgical plans.
- Prepare the CVOR, equipment, instruments, and supplies for cardiovascular procedures.
- Serve as circulating or scrub RN based on clinical assignment.
- Maintain sterile technique and follow cardiovascular surgical protocols.
- Assist with patient positioning, skin preparation, and surgical draping.
- Perform surgical counts of instruments, sponges, needles, and supplies.
- Monitor patient safety and respond promptly to changes in condition.
- Assist surgeons and the surgical team during complex cardiovascular procedures.
- Handle and document surgical specimens according to established protocols.
- Maintain accurate perioperative documentation and assist with room turnover.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, perfusionists, surgical technologists, and other healthcare professionals.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Previous CVOR, cardiovascular, cardiothoracic, or perioperative nursing experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of sterile technique, cardiovascular procedures, and OR safety.
- BLS and ACLS certifications required.
- CNOR certification preferred.
- Strong clinical, organizational, and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-acuity surgical environment.
Pay Rate
$75.71 - $80.59/hour
