Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse (CVICU RN) to provide specialized critical care for patients recovering from cardiac and vascular surgeries or experiencing complex cardiovascular conditions. The CVICU RN will assess, monitor, and manage critically ill patients while collaborating with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to deliver exceptional patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive assessments of critically ill cardiovascular patients and develop individualized nursing care plans.
- Provide direct care for patients recovering from open-heart surgery, vascular surgery, cardiac interventions, and other critical cardiovascular conditions.
- Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms, hemodynamic status, ventilators, and invasive monitoring devices.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, vasoactive drips, blood products, and other prescribed treatments.
- Manage arterial lines, central venous catheters, chest tubes, temporary pacemakers, and other critical care equipment.
- Recognize and respond rapidly to changes in patient condition and emergency situations.
- Collaborate with cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, intensivists, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, recovery expectations, medications, and discharge planning.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Current ACLS certification required.
- Minimum 1 year of recent CVICU, Cardiovascular ICU, Cardiac ICU, Surgical ICU, or Critical Care nursing experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of cardiac monitoring, hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, vasoactive medications, and post-cardiac surgery care.
- Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred.
Pay Rate
$69,000.00 - $73,000.00/year
