Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to assist Occupational Therapists in providing high-quality rehabilitation services to patients with physical, cognitive, developmental, or functional limitations. The COTA will support the implementation of individualized treatment plans, provide therapeutic interventions, monitor patient progress, and help patients improve independence, safety, and quality of life under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist Occupational Therapists in implementing individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and functional goals
• Provide therapeutic activities and interventions to improve activities of daily living (ADLs), mobility, coordination, strength, and independence
• Assist patients with exercises, functional activities, and adaptive techniques as outlined in the plan of care
• Support patients in improving self-care skills, safety awareness, and participation in daily activities
• Train and educate patients and caregivers on therapeutic techniques, exercises, and strategies to support functional outcomes
• Monitor patient response to treatment and communicate progress, concerns, and changes to the supervising Occupational Therapist
• Assist with mobility training, positioning, transfers, and use of adaptive equipment as appropriate
• Recommend and educate patients on assistive devices and compensatory strategies under Occupational Therapist guidance
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of treatment sessions, patient progress, and outcomes
• Collaborate with Occupational Therapists, physicians, nurses, Physical Therapists, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
• Participate in care planning, progress reviews, and discharge recommendations
• Maintain a safe, supportive, and patient-centered therapy environment
• Follow infection prevention practices, patient safety standards, and regulatory requirements
Required Qualifications:
• Active, unrestricted Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license in the state of practice
• Associate’s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
• Current NBCOT certification preferred/required based on facility requirements
• Current BLS/CPR certification required
• Minimum 1–2 years of recent COTA experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of occupational therapy principles, rehabilitation techniques, and patient care practices
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist
• Strong commitment to providing compassionate and patient-centered rehabilitation care
• Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) documentation preferred
Pay Rate
$41.28 - $46.16/hour
