Registered Nurse – ASU/PACU
Position Summary
Provide skilled nursing care to patients before and after surgical procedures in the Ambulatory Surgery Unit (ASU) and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). Monitor patient recovery, manage post-procedure needs, and ensure safe discharge or transfer.
Responsibilities
- Perform preoperative assessments and prepare patients for procedures.
- Receive and assess patients recovering from anesthesia.
- Monitor vital signs, airway, pain, consciousness, and overall recovery.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, and treatments as prescribed.
- Recognize and respond to post-anesthesia complications and emergencies.
- Provide pain and nausea management and monitor patient response.
- Educate patients and families on recovery and discharge instructions.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the healthcare team.
- Follow patient safety, infection-control, and perioperative standards.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Current and active RN license in the applicable state.
- Previous ASU, PACU, perioperative, or critical care experience preferred.
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred or as applicable.
- Strong assessment, critical-thinking, communication, and patient-care skills.
Pay Rate
$56.66 - $61.53/hour
