Job Description – Anesthesia Technician | Surgery Department
Department: Surgery / Perioperative Services
Position: Anesthesia Technician
Unit Coverage: Supports 38 procedural rooms including:
- 17 Main ORs
- 4 CVOR
- 3 Cardiac Cath Labs (CCL)
- 3 Labor & Delivery rooms
- 2 Endoscopy suites
- EP Lab suites
- MRI, CT, Ultrasound, X-Ray, and Nuclear Medicine rooms
Position Overview
The Anesthesia Technician supports the anesthesia team across a high-volume surgical services department by preparing equipment, maintaining anesthesia machines, stocking supplies, assisting with procedures, and responding to emergency situations. The department is seeking flexible, team-oriented travelers who thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications
- BLS Certification required
- Cer.Telecommunication required
- Minimum 1 year of experience accepted
- First-time travelers welcome
Preferred Experience
- Pediatric experience preferred
- Experience with Client anesthesia machines and Mindray equipment preferred
- Experience in:
- Cardiac Cath Lab (CCL)
- Electrophysiology (EP)
- Obstetrics (OB)
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Clean and maintain anesthesia machines
- Set up anesthesia circuits and perform machine checks
- Wipe down and sanitize equipment
- Manage inventory for:
- Anesthesia machines
- Omnicells
- Supply cabinets
- Restock and transport supplies/equipment as needed
- Assist CRNAs with arterial line setup
- Multitask in a fast-paced perioperative environment
- Respond to emergency situations including:
- OB Stat
- Anesthesia Stat
- Trauma alerts
- Stroke alerts
Note: IV starts are not within scope for this role.
Staffing & Leadership
- Approximately 8 staff members supporting 38 procedural rooms
- Tech Supervisor available as a primary resource
- New manager with oversight from Surgical Services Director
Anesthesia Coverage
- Anesthesiologists and CRNAs onsite 24/7
- Pediatric trauma program onsite
- Main OR and CVOR capable of urgent/emergent procedures
- Call response time: 30 minutes
Scheduling & Shift Information
- Department staffed 24/7
- Overtime opportunities available
- Weekend requirement: Sundays per assigned schedule
- Holiday coverage required unless approved RTO submitted in advance
- Call available but not mandatory
Floating Requirements
- Primarily within the department
- Rare possibility of floating to Meridian or Nampa ORs
Dress Code
- Hospital-provided scrubs and locker
- Travelers may wear personal surgical caps
- Must provide own OR shoes
Orientation
- Department-specific orientation provided over 3 shifts

Pay Rate
$41.54 - $46.42/hour
