American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter
We are seeking a skilled and professional American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter to facilitate effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals and healthcare providers, staff, and patients. The ASL Interpreter will ensure accurate, confidential, and culturally appropriate interpretation services in a variety of settings.
Responsibilities:
• Provide accurate American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for patients, families, and healthcare staff.
• Facilitate clear communication during medical appointments, consultations, and procedures.
• Interpret spoken language into ASL and ASL into spoken language accurately and impartially.
• Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and professional ethics.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure effective communication and patient understanding.
• Maintain accurate documentation as required and comply with organizational policies.
Qualifications:
• Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English.
• National certification (RID, NIC, or equivalent) preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare interpreting practices preferred.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and cultural competency skills.
• Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and impartiality.
• Previous experience as an ASL Interpreter in a healthcare setting preferred.
Pay Rate
$48.88 - $53.76/hour
