Surgical Unit Registered Nurse (RN)
Position Summary
Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients before and after surgical procedures. Monitor patient conditions, administer treatments, manage post-operative needs, and support safe recovery throughout the surgical care process.
Responsibilities
- Perform preoperative and postoperative nursing assessments.
- Monitor vital signs, pain levels, surgical sites, and patient recovery.
- Administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments as prescribed.
- Provide wound care and monitor for signs of infection or complications.
- Assist patients with mobility, activities of daily living, and recovery needs.
- Educate patients and families on medications, wound care, recovery, and discharge instructions.
- Recognize changes in patient condition and communicate concerns promptly.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Collaborate with surgeons, physicians, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Follow patient safety, infection-control, and clinical standards.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Current and active RN license in the applicable state.
- Previous surgical, perioperative, or acute care experience preferred.
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred or as applicable.
- Strong clinical assessment, communication, organization, and patient-care skills.
Pay Rate
$60.47 - $65.35/hour
