Provides direct day-to-day supervision of technicians and other applicable pharmacy employees.
This role is a licensed professional responsible for the safe and compliant preparation, verification, and dispensing of sterile compounded medications.
The pharmacist ensures clinical accuracy, aseptic integrity, and regulatory compliance through oversight of sterile compounding processes, final product verification, and patient counseling.
Working in accordance with USP standards, applicable laws, and internal SOPs, this role oversees the full prescription lifecycle and collaborates with prescribers to resolve clinical questions.
The pharmacist also supervises technicians and compounding staff, ensuring adherence to workflow standards and maintaining a controlled, compliant cleanroom environment.
Perform and oversee sterile compounding activities in compliance with USP and standards and internal SOPs.
Ensure proper cleaning and maintenance of the cleanroom, including daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning procedures.
Clean and depyrogenate equipment and glassware used in sterile compounding.
Monitor and document environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, pressure differentials) and verify proper operation of compounding equipment.
Monitor media fills and environmental sampling results, taking appropriate action as required.
Review incoming prescriptions (e-scripts, fax) for completeness, accuracy, appropriate drug selection, and dosing.
Clarify prescription orders with prescribers as needed, including responding to electronic communications.
Receive and document verbal prescription orders in accordance with pharmacy law.
Perform in-process and final verification of sterile compounded preparations prior to dispensing or shipment.
Ensure accuracy and completeness of all compounding and prescription documentation, including formulation records, labels, and batch records.
Counsel patients and caregivers on medications in a timely, clear, and professional manner.
Respond to patient inquiries via phone, text, or other communication platforms.
Provide information and guidance to prescribers, healthcare professionals, and staff as appropriate.
Assess daily workload, prescription volume, and inventory to plan compounding batches and optimize efficiency.
Assign and adjust workflow for pharmacy technicians and support staff across functions based on operational needs.
Monitor staff productivity and reallocate tasks to maintain workflow efficiency.
Directly supervise technicians and staff involved in sterile compounding and pharmacy operations.
Perform pharmacist and technician duties as needed to support operations.
Make workflow decisions in coordination with leadership, with final authority held by the Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC).
Ensure all activities comply with USP standards, applicable federal and state pharmacy laws, and internal SOPs.
Maintain active pharmacist licensure in good standing (Kansas).
Maintain professional competence required for sterile compounding and clinical responsibilities.
Ensure the quality, sterility, and safety of all compounded preparations and dispensed medications.

Skills:

Registered pharmacist maintaining a license in good standing (Desired)

Pay Rate
$40.80 - $68.00/hour
