Department: Post Partum/Mother Baby | RN
*Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP*
- # Postpartum beds: 37 adults and 30 babies.
- # Births per day? Month? Year?: 1,417 deliveries in 2023.
- Do you follow AWHONN guidelines for ratios?: Yes, 1:6 mix of patient populations.
- Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP
- Common diagnoses: GYN patients: tubals, hysters, circumcisions, antepartum patients, post partum patients, newborns
regular and transitional care nursery, RNs to do PKUs and HCHC, they do have fairly high risk population.
- Experience: 1 year of experience in PP/MB required. Must have previous travel experience. Must have experience with
GYN experience, Antepartum patients, as well as mother baby/ pp. C- EFM preferred.
- Are RNs required to titrate drips?: No
- Common titratable: N/A
- Charge Nurses: Yes, depending on the staffing/census/patient acuity usually. Charge to take 4 patients at most.
- Patient Care Technicians: Yes, PCT's 2 on maternity side and 1 on nursery side. Duties: VS, hearing screens, transport and
ADLS- try not to assign agency on the floor and not in the nursery.
- OB/Neonatologist in house 24/7?: OB yes in house 24/7, neonatologist on call after hours.
- Anesthesia in house 24/7?: Yes
- RT Equipment: None
- Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?:
No
- EFM System: Centricity Perinatal, Allscripts, Cerner bridge.
- Shifts & Scheduling: 7-7:30. Travelers to give availability and they will do their best to accommodate requests, but ask
travelers to stay flexible and fill gaps in permanent scheduling; do not guarantee block scheduling. Excessive call-ins are
taken seriously and could lead to termination.
- Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend.
- Holiday Requirements: Potential to work holidays if needed.
- Is there a call or standby requirement?: No
- Floating Requirements?: Yes to L&D recovery room- for post- partum care only. No triage or intrapartum in L&D.
- Scrub Color: Royal Blue, no surgical caps, no fake nails.
- Unit Specific Orientation: 1-2 shifts on the floor.
