Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Ultrasound Technologist (U/S Tech) to perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound examinations in a hospital or outpatient setting. The Ultrasound Technologist will operate ultrasound equipment, produce accurate diagnostic images, ensure patient safety and comfort, and collaborate with radiologists and healthcare providers to support timely diagnosis and treatment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform a variety of diagnostic ultrasound examinations in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols
- Prepare patients for procedures by explaining the examination process and addressing questions or concerns
- Position patients appropriately to obtain optimal diagnostic images while ensuring comfort and safety
- Operate, adjust, and maintain ultrasound equipment to produce high-quality images
- Evaluate image quality and obtain additional images as needed for diagnostic accuracy
- Recognize normal and abnormal sonographic findings and communicate urgent results according to facility protocols
- Maintain accurate patient records and imaging documentation in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and PACS
- Follow infection prevention protocols, patient safety standards, HIPAA regulations, and departmental policies
- Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
- Ensure proper care and maintenance of ultrasound equipment and report equipment issues promptly
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities
Required Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program
- Active ARDMS certification (or equivalent credential) required
- Current BLS/CPR certification required
- State licensure required where applicable
- Minimum 1 year of recent ultrasound experience preferred
- Proficiency in performing abdominal, obstetric, gynecologic, vascular, small parts, and general ultrasound examinations as required by the assignment
- Strong knowledge of ultrasound imaging techniques, anatomy, physiology, and patient care practices
- Excellent communication, organizational, and critical-thinking skills
- Experience with PACS, RIS, and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment
