Job Details
The Surgical Technician – Operating Room (OR) position focuses on supporting surgeons and the surgical team by preparing the operating room, maintaining a sterile environment, and assisting during pediatric surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and set up the operating room with sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment.
- Maintain a sterile surgical field throughout procedures.
- Assist surgeons by passing instruments and supplies during surgery.
- Review patient, physician, and procedure requirements to ensure the correct equipment and supplies are available.
- Handle, label, and manage surgical specimens.
- Perform room turnover, restocking, and cleaning between procedures.
- Maintain and protect surgical instruments from damage.
- Update and maintain physician preference cards.
- Serve as a preceptor for surgical technology students and assist with staff orientation.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support perioperative services.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification..
Required Skills
- Knowledge of sterile technique and infection prevention.
- Strong understanding of surgical instruments and equipment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced operating room.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Pay Rate
$54.63 - $59.51/hour
