Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) with scrub abilities to provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care in the Operating Room. This role requires proficiency in both circulating and scrubbing during a wide range of surgical procedures while ensuring patient safety, maintaining a sterile environment, and collaborating with the surgical team to deliver exceptional surgical care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Function as both a Circulating Nurse and Scrub Nurse during surgical procedures
- Prepare operating rooms with appropriate instruments, supplies, and equipment
- Perform preoperative patient assessments and verify surgical consent, site, and procedure
- Maintain sterile technique and ensure compliance with aseptic standards throughout surgical procedures
- Assist surgeons by passing instruments, sutures, and supplies during surgery
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team to facilitate efficient procedures
- Monitor patient condition throughout surgery and respond to changes promptly
- Perform instrument, sponge, and needle counts according to surgical safety protocols
- Operate and troubleshoot surgical equipment as needed
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and perioperative staff
- Document perioperative care accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, AORN standards, HIPAA regulations, and facility policies
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program
- Current BLS certification required
- ACLS certification preferred or required based on facility requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent Operating Room experience
- Demonstrated proficiency in both circulating and scrubbing for surgical procedures
- Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation, sterile technique, aseptic practices, and perioperative patient care
- Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and teamwork skills
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
- BSN preferred
- CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room) certification preferred
- Experience in orthopedic, general, vascular, neurosurgery, cardiovascular, robotic, ENT, gynecology, urology, or trauma surgery
- Previous travel or contract Operating Room nursing experience preferred
- Experience with minimally invasive and robotic-assisted surgical procedures
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced surgical environment and participate in on-call rotations
Pay Rate
$60.47 - $65.35/hour
