Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist – General / Vascular Operating Room to assist surgeons and the surgical team during general and vascular procedures. The Surgical Technologist will prepare the operating room, maintain a sterile field, handle surgical instruments, and help ensure safe and efficient surgical care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare operating rooms, instruments, supplies, and equipment for general and vascular surgical procedures
- Establish and maintain a sterile field throughout surgical cases
- Assist surgeons by passing instruments, sutures, and supplies during procedures
- Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts with the circulating nurse
- Prepare and handle surgical specimens according to facility protocols
- Assist with patient positioning, draping, and operating room setup
- Clean, sterilize, and restock surgical instruments and equipment after procedures
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention, sterile technique, and patient safety standards
- Maintain accurate documentation as required
- Collaborate with surgeons, registered nurses, anesthesia providers, and other members of the surgical team
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities
Required Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
- Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification through NBSTSA preferred or required based on facility requirements
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of recent Operating Room experience, including General and Vascular Surgery, preferred
- Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation, sterile technique, anatomy, and perioperative procedures
- Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with open and endovascular vascular procedures
- Experience in additional specialties such as orthopedic, neurosurgery, robotic, or cardiovascular surgery
- Previous travel or contract surgical technologist experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced surgical environment
- Ability to participate in on-call, weekend, holiday, and emergency surgical coverage as required
Pay Rate
$49.03 - $53.91/hour
