Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Staff RN – Maternity to provide comprehensive nursing care to women during labor, delivery, postpartum recovery, and the newborn period. The RN will monitor maternal and fetal conditions, administer medications and treatments, support childbirth, provide postpartum care, and educate patients and families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive maternal assessments and monitor vital signs, pain, bleeding, and postpartum recovery.
- Monitor fetal heart rate, contractions, and maternal-fetal status during labor.
- Provide nursing care during labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum periods.
- Assist with vaginal and cesarean deliveries and immediate post-delivery care.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, oxytocin, and other prescribed treatments.
- Recognize and respond promptly to obstetric emergencies and changes in maternal or fetal condition.
- Provide postpartum care, including fundal assessments, incision care, pain management, and breastfeeding support.
- Provide newborn care and monitor newborn condition as required.
- Educate patients and families regarding labor, postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, newborn care, and discharge instructions.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR.
- Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, pediatricians, lactation consultants, and other healthcare professionals.
- Follow infection prevention, HIPAA, patient safety, and maternity care protocols.
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- ADN or BSN from an accredited nursing program.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Current NRP certification required.
- ACLS certification required/preferred based on assignment requirements.
- Minimum 1 year of recent maternity, Labor & Delivery, postpartum, or mother-baby nursing experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of maternal, obstetric, postpartum, and newborn nursing care.
- Excellent clinical judgment, critical-thinking, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience with EMR systems preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- BSN preferred.
- Experience with labor monitoring, fetal heart rate interpretation, inductions, and cesarean deliveries.
- Experience with postpartum and mother-baby care.
- Experience with breastfeeding support and newborn assessments.
- AWHONN fetal monitoring certification preferred.
- Experience managing obstetric emergencies.
- Strong patient and family education skills.
- Commitment to compassionate, family-centered care.
Pay Rate
$52.85 - $57.72/hour
