Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Staff Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality nursing care in both the Labor & Delivery (L&D) and Medical-Surgical (Med-Surg) units. The RN will care for obstetric and medical-surgical patients, perform comprehensive assessments, administer treatments, monitor patient progress, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to Labor & Delivery and Medical-Surgical patients
- Assess, monitor, and document maternal, fetal, newborn, and adult patient conditions
- Assist with labor management, vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and postpartum recovery
- Monitor fetal heart rate patterns and maternal well-being during labor
- Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and treatments as prescribed
- Provide post-operative and post-delivery care, pain management, and patient education
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized nursing care plans
- Educate patients and families on labor, delivery, postpartum recovery, medications, newborn care, and discharge instructions
- Collaborate with obstetricians, hospitalists, pediatricians, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
- Respond promptly to obstetric, neonatal, and medical emergencies while following established protocols
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention standards, HIPAA regulations, patient safety guidelines, and facility policies
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required
- Fetal Monitoring certification required or obtained per facility policy
- Minimum 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery and/or Medical-Surgical nursing experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of obstetric, postpartum, newborn, and adult medical-surgical nursing care
- Excellent clinical assessment, critical-thinking, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred
