Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Sleep Technologist to perform overnight polysomnographic studies for patients with sleep disorders. The Sleep Technologist will prepare patients for testing, monitor physiological data, score sleep studies, and collaborate with physicians to support accurate diagnosis and effective treatment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct overnight polysomnography (sleep studies) following established protocols.
- Prepare patients for sleep studies by applying monitoring equipment and explaining procedures.
- Monitor patients throughout testing and respond appropriately to significant clinical events.
- Perform CPAP, BiPAP, and other positive airway pressure titration studies as prescribed.
- Collect, analyze, and document physiological data during sleep studies.
- Score sleep studies according to AASM guidelines and prepare preliminary reports.
- Troubleshoot sleep study equipment and ensure proper calibration and maintenance.
- Educate patients on sleep testing procedures and PAP equipment usage.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Collaborate with sleep physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure quality patient care.
- Follow infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Polysomnographic Technology or Respiratory Therapy program, or equivalent education and training.
- Active Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) credential preferred or required based on facility requirements.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Minimum 1 year of recent sleep laboratory experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of sleep disorders, polysomnography, CPAP/BiPAP titration, and sleep study equipment.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and sleep study software preferred.
Pay Rate
$52.85 - $57.72/hour
