Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) – Surgical/Orthopedic (Surg/Ortho) to provide high-quality nursing care for patients recovering from orthopedic injuries, surgical procedures, and musculoskeletal conditions. The RN will assess patient needs, administer treatments, manage post-operative care, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to promote safe recovery and optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized nursing care plans
- Provide preoperative and post-operative care for orthopedic and surgical patients
- Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and prescribed treatments
- Monitor patient conditions, vital signs, neurovascular status, and pain levels
- Perform wound care, dressing changes, drain management, and orthopedic care
- Assist with mobility, rehabilitation, fall prevention, and activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Educate patients and families on surgical recovery, medications, mobility precautions, and discharge planning
- Collaborate with surgeons, physicians, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
- Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and medical emergencies
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, and patient safety standards
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing education activities
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program
- Current BLS certification required
- ACLS certification preferred or required based on assignment
- Minimum 1 year of recent Surgical, Orthopedic, Medical-Surgical, or Post-Anesthesia nursing experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of orthopedic nursing, post-operative care, pain management, and neurovascular assessments
- Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced acute care environment
Pay Rate
$60.47 - $65.35/hour
