Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) – Surgical/Orthopedic (Surg/Ortho) to provide high-quality nursing care for patients recovering from orthopedic injuries, surgeries, and other surgical procedures. The RN will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to promote safe recovery and optimal patient outcomes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized nursing care plans.
  • Provide direct nursing care for orthopedic, trauma, and post-surgical patients.
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and pain management treatments as prescribed.
  • Monitor patient conditions, neurovascular status, surgical sites, and responses to treatment.
  • Assist with post-operative recovery, wound care, dressing changes, drains, and orthopedic devices.
  • Educate patients and families regarding procedures, medications, mobility, rehabilitation, and discharge planning.
  • Coordinate patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Collaborate with surgeons, orthopedic specialists, physical and occupational therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
  • Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • ACLS certification preferred or required based on facility requirements.
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Surgical, Orthopedic, Medical-Surgical, or Post-Anesthesia nursing experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of orthopedic conditions, post-operative care, pain management, wound care, and neurovascular assessment.
  • Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred.

Pay Rate
$60.47 - $65.35/hour
