Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to provide perioperative nursing care in Surgical Services, serving in both the Operating Room as a Circulating Nurse and the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (Recovery Room). The RN will ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures while collaborating with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative nursing care.
- Serve as the circulating nurse during surgical procedures while maintaining a safe and sterile environment.
- Prepare operating rooms, equipment, and surgical supplies for scheduled procedures.
- Monitor patient safety, positioning, and physiological status throughout surgery.
- Assess and monitor patients recovering from anesthesia, including airway, neurological status, pain level, cardiac rhythm, and vital signs.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and other prescribed treatments.
- Identify and respond promptly to postoperative complications and emergency situations.
- Educate patients and families regarding surgical procedures, postoperative care, medications, and discharge instructions.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, PACU staff, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, AORN standards, patient safety guidelines, and facility policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Current ACLS certification required.
- PALS certification preferred or required based on facility requirements.
- Minimum 1 year of recent Operating Room (Circulating) and/or PACU/Recovery Room nursing experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing, sterile technique, post-anesthesia recovery, airway management, and patient safety.
- Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred.
Pay Rate
$60.47 - $65.35/hour
