Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to provide exceptional patient care in the Short Stay Surgical Unit (SSSU) and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The RN will deliver preoperative and postoperative nursing care, monitor patients recovering from anesthesia, and collaborate with the surgical team to ensure safe, efficient, and patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for preoperative and postoperative patients.
- Monitor patients recovering from anesthesia, including airway, cardiac rhythm, neurological status, pain, and vital signs.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and other prescribed treatments.
- Identify and respond promptly to changes in patient condition and postoperative complications.
- Provide pain management and patient comfort measures.
- Prepare patients for surgical procedures and assist with discharge planning.
- Educate patients and families regarding postoperative care, medications, activity restrictions, and discharge instructions.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, operating room staff, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Current ACLS certification required.
- PALS certification preferred or required based on facility requirements.
- Minimum 1 year of recent PACU, SSSU, Operating Room, Critical Care, ICU, or Emergency Department nursing experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing, post-anesthesia recovery, pain management, airway management, and patient assessment.
- Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred.
Pay Rate
$66.57 - $71.44/hour
