Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – SSSU/PACU to provide high-quality preoperative and postoperative nursing care for surgical patients. The RN will assess patients, monitor recovery from anesthesia, administer medications, manage pain, and collaborate with the surgical team to ensure safe and effective patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preoperative and postoperative patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
- Prepare patients for surgical procedures and provide preoperative education
- Monitor patients recovering from anesthesia, including airway, vital signs, pain, and neurological status
- Administer medications, IV therapies, fluids, and pain management as prescribed
- Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition and postoperative complications
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care
- Educate patients and families on postoperative care, medications, and discharge instructions
- Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, and perioperative standards
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and on-call coverage as required
Required Qualifications:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ASN or BSN preferred)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications
- Minimum 1 year of recent SSSU, PACU, or perioperative nursing experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of post-anesthesia recovery, patient monitoring, and pain management
- Excellent critical-thinking, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment
Pay Rate
$68.09 - $72.97/hour
