Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and adaptable Registered Nurse (RN) – Rehabilitation Float to provide high-quality nursing care across multiple rehabilitation units. The RN will care for patients recovering from strokes, orthopedic surgeries, neurological conditions, spinal cord injuries, trauma, and other complex medical conditions while collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to promote recovery and functional independence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in various inpatient rehabilitation units
- Perform patient assessments and develop individualized nursing care plans
- Monitor patient conditions, vital signs, neurological status, pain levels, and rehabilitation progress
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and prescribed treatments
- Assist patients with mobility, activities of daily living (ADLs), transfers, and fall prevention
- Collaborate with physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals
- Educate patients and families on medications, rehabilitation goals, self-care, and discharge planning
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
- Float between rehabilitation units based on patient care needs and staffing requirements
- Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and medical emergencies
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and quality improvement initiatives
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program
- Current BLS/CPR certification required
- ACLS certification preferred or required based on assignment
- Minimum 1 year of recent Rehabilitation, Medical-Surgical, Neurology, Orthopedic, or Acute Care nursing experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of rehabilitation nursing, patient assessment, medication administration, mobility assistance, and care planning
- Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred
- Ability to adapt quickly while floating between multiple rehabilitation units
