Unit/Department FLOAT POOL - Clinical Support Unit Boise Hospital (ED Boarders, M/S & TELE)
What units are included in the float pool? "Can be floated to any facility in the region: Boise, Meridian, and Nampa, within specialty and/or to be a 1:1 sitter in any area.
MedSurg: 7 units across all facilities (7 medsurg units – 1 in Nampa, 2 in Meridian, and 4 in Boise)
ED holds 1 unit at each facility.
Meridian is a Level 4/Stroke/STEMI receiving 45 bed ER, holds are intermixed with regular ER patients.
Nampa is a Level 4 24 bed ER, holds are intermixed with regular ER patients
Boise is a Level 2/Stroke/STEMI recieving 29 bed ER, holds are intermixed with regular ER patients"
Nurse:Patient Ratios ED holds 1:4; MS 1:5
Required Certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?) "BLS and ACLS

Common diagnoses/Types of patients "included but not limited to postop, ortho, neuro, satellite tele, and medical, and oncology
ER holds is a quick turn over, CVA/TIA r/o, CVA/TIA, CP, CP r/o- trend trops, abdominal pain, CHF"
Experience or 'Must have' skills "Must have 2 years experience in speciality and previous travel experience
Experience with cardizem, amio, nitro
Prefer ED holds experience"
Are RNs required to titrate drips? Yes
Common titratable &/or set rate drips "MedSurg heparin and insulin drips
ED holds cardizem, amio, nitro, heparin, insulin

Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift & on each unit? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? "Charge nurse on all units
Float pool has 7 assistant manager, 1 is always on call 24/7. They always round and touch base with travelers days, nights, and weekends
Float pool leadership team including educator and admin have a shared email
7 assistant maangers on call- 1 is always on call 24/7"
Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on the units? Ratios? Duties? yes ratios: anywhere from 1:8-10 depeding on floor and day
RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot? RT to assist on the units
Are there tele/monitor techs on the units? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors? RNs need to be able to read and interpret tele independently
Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) "0700-1900 or 1900-0700.
No self-scheduling. We try to block schedule but cannot guarantee it."
Weekend Requirements every other

Is there a call or standby requirement? no
How are units assigned? i.e. via text message, daily sheet assignments, set schedule? "Travelers will have an app, 1 hour before shift starts will see what hospital and unit you are going to.
All hospitals are about 20 minutes apart, all are right off the interstate, safe parking available at all locations
Travelers will be 1st to float can midshift float- can float at any time during shift to different units and facilities, whenever there is a need"
Scrub Color/Dress Code No specific color as long as clean and professional
How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation? Meet and greet day 1 of orientation. 3 shifts of inpatient orientation
Additional Notes "Very great culture, all facilities have easy access and easy parking

Pay Rate
$60.65 - $65.53/hour
