THIS IS A FLOAT POOL POSITOIN TO GO TO NAMPA, BOISE AND MERIDIAN.
MUST HAVE PRIOR TRAVEL EXPERIENCE
Unit Clinical Support Unit- FLOAT POOL - NICU RN
Level of NICU 3 facilities- Boise, Meridian, and Nampa.
RNs will only float in their specialty. Can also float to any facility to be a 1:1 sitter in any area.
Boise is a Level IV, Nampa is a Level II, Meridian is Level 2B
# of Beds Boise: 61 beds- 24 rooms that can have up to 3 patients per room
Nampa has 8 beds- all private NICU suites all 8 beds are on their own
Meridian has 13 beds
Nurse:Patient Ratios 1:1-3
Required Certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?) BLS, NRP, STABLE
Common diagnoses/Types of patients Boise: Prematurity 22 weeks and above, respiratory distress (Nava, Cpap, vents), surgical patients (trachs, g-tubes, shunts, hernia repairs), Feeder/growers
Nampa: Level II – 32 weeks and greater. Mostly respiratory distress, a lot feeders and growers, hypoglycemia, some NAS scoring-opioid withdrawal
Meridian: Premature ≥32 weeks, late preterm, sepsis, hypoglycemia, requiring oxygen (NC, Hi Flow NC, CPAP), NOWS/NAS, feeding difficulties.
Experience or 'Must have' skills Must have 2 years of NICU experience, must have prior travel
Prefer a background in mother baby may have NICU nurse care for NICU baby and mom, and another baby
Prefer a peds back ground for floating
Must have experience and be able to attend deliveries- must be able to stabilize newborn, "eyes & thighs" (this is referring to Vitamin K and erothromycin administration) and 2hr assessment
Must have experience attending c-sections as delivery nurse- NICU RNs attend ALL c-sections- scheduled, urgent, and emergent
Must have delivery room high risk resuscitation experience, IV start and lab draw experience
Level 4 NICU experiecne is not required for this float position
Are RNs required to titrate drips? yes
Common titratable &/or set rate drips Morphine, Dopamine, Epinephrine
Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? Charge RN doesn’t take assignments (travelers would not be in the charge RN role)
Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties? Yes. 1-2 per shift
Neonatologist in house 24/7? Yes, NNP or neonatologist 24/7 depending on facility
RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot? Drager, Servo, HFJV, HFOV, Nava, Cpap, Nasal Cannula.
Jet and oscillator experience is not required.
Are there tele/monitor techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors? continuous monitoring- centralized monitoring system
Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) 07-19 (Day shift), 19-07 (Night shift). No self-scheduling, scheduler works with traveler to schedule. No more than 5 shifts in a row.
Weekend Requirement Will be used to fill in where there is a need
Holiday Requirement yes if there is a need
Is there Call or a Standby requirement? no
Floating Requirements Will float to other NICUs in the Valley- Meridian Medical Center and Nampa Medical Center
May be floated outside of NICU to be a 1:1 sitter
Possibly to Peds, PICU, nursery or Mother Baby if they have that experience (would get an oriented if needed)
Floating Notice: Travelers will have an app, 1 hour before shift starts will see what hospital and unit you are going to. All hospitals are about 20 minutes apart,are right off the interstate, safe parking available at all locations.
Travelers will be 1st to float can midshift float- can float at any time during shift to different units and facilities
Meridian to Nampa: 19 min, 14 miles
Meridian to Boise: 21 min, 10.8 miles
Boise to Nampa: 33 min, 22.7 miles
Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs provided? Hospital provided scrubs
How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation? Yes; 2 shifts of orientation to unit and 1 shift with meeting with educator to review unit standards.
Additional Notes Super welcoming to travelers, staff is super friendly, multiple travelers extend as long as they can
Have a no fingernail lacquer policy- do not allow acrylic or gel nails in the dept
Travel duos will need 2 cars, can not do 1 car as they could be at different sites or float during shift
Pay Rate
$68.29 - $73.17/hour
