Do they have another job? If Yes, redirect, BronxCare does not allow part time or second jobs, this is expected to be their only job. As they are filling in scheduling gaps and they do not allow block scheduling. Per Diem jobs are to be considered on case to case basis, however the facility will NOT accommodate working around a per diem position- please ensure traveler is understanding of this.
Any RTO to be requested for (potential approval) prior to contract start, after start it will not be considered.
# Beds "Beds intermixed within ER/ inpatient overflow areas, the number of beds fluctuates. Cohort patients if able, ER is made up of sections If no hold patients will float to MS Tele units within the hospital "
Nurse: Patient Ratios "Census dependent, at least 2 ERG nurses on per shift taking 1:5-6 patients. Fast pace environment with high patient turnover, travelers should be able to transition quickly
Required Certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?) BLS ACLS
Common diagnosis / Types of patients "General medical, and tele patients, a lot of psych, and some trach patients
Experience or 'Must have' skills MUST have previous ER hold experience, Prefer vented trachs experience- for floating"
Are RN's required to titrate drips: Heparin
Common titratable &/or set rate drips: none
Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RN's required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors? no techs, RN to read and interpret tele strips
Charge Nurse/House Supervisor? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? No charge, working independently, ER staff there for support
Are there Nurse Aides on this unit/Ratios: ER aids to assist/ break coverage from ER
RT/Equipment (i.e., Cpap, Bipap, High Flow, vents, etc.): 6L max
Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) NO! Travelers are expected to fill gaps in perm staff schedules, and remain flexible. No block scheduling. Excessive call-ins are taken seriously and could lead to termination. Will consider blocks if weekends only
Weekend Requirements "Every other weekend
Holiday Requirements May be asked to go in the Holiday Rotation
Is there Call or a Standby requirement? No
Floating Requirements? Yes travelers are first to float, if there is a need on other med/surg telemetry units;
Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs Provided? Royal Blue , Not provided
Unit/Department Specific Orientation 3 Classroom days of orientation, 1 day of unit orientation with a preceptor
Additional Notes Must be comfortable being independent and with fast pace environment
Pay Rate
$66.76 - $71.64/hour
