- # Beds: 36
- Nurse: Patient Ratios: PCU 1:4
- Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS
- Common diagnoses: Anything post ICU, post shock, post stroke, initiate critical care unit level of care while pending
transfer, pneumonia, CHF, post cardiac arrest, non-DKA, resp. failure for weaning or unweaning pending tracheostomy for
short/long term placement, ID, and more.
- Experience: Must have ICU and/or PCU-Stepdown experience. Must have vent experience. Will accept first time travelers.
- Are RNs required to titrate drips?: Nicardipine, pressors (levo, etc), fentanyl, precedux, heparin, insulin, & more.
- Common titratable: All drips titratable
- Charge Nurse: Charge Nurse available- doesn't take patient assignment unless needed.
- Nurse aids: PCTs, typical staffing is for 5. Job Duties: Vitals, A.M./P.M. care, restocking, running errands, EKGs, outputs,
bladder scanning, and blood glucose.
- RT Equipment: RT- manage resp equipment, Cpap, Bipap, Vents, Trachs, High flow, and more. Will administer breathing
treatments but nurse can assist.
- Tele/Monitor Techs: Centralized Tele monitor,24/7. Nurses must be able to read and interpret tele appropriately and
communicate changes with physician for the appropriate intervention.
- Shifts & Scheduling: 12s, 7-7:30, 3 shifts per week. Vacation request must be made in advance. Schedule is made 4 weeks
at a time; Management is going to prepare schedule base on unit needs, will be notified a week or 2 in advance; Travelers
expected to stay flexible and help to fill gaps in permanent staffing.
- Weekend Requirements: At a minimum every other weekend.
- Holiday Requirements: May be asked to go into the Holiday Rotation.
- Is there call or a standby requirement?: None
- Floating Requirements: Floating ICU, CCU, PCU/Tele, Pulmonary, and any MS-Tele (1:4-5).
- Scrub Color: Royal Blue
- Unit Specific Orientation: 2 days with a preceptor.
