**MedSol Prescreen/Manager Interview**

-Unit: MedSurg - Floor 6
- # of Beds: 35
- Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:4-5 based on acuity- use an acuity tool to give the best picture real time to balance assignments.
- Required certifications: BLS
- Common diagnoses/Types of patients : Multiple specialty unit: Center of Excellence Bariatric Surgery- good amount of bariatric
surgeries. Urology-TURP, cysto, prostatectomy, CBIs; Colorectal, Vascular Surgery-AAA repair, endarterectomy, fempop bypass; Acute
Care Surgery, Gynecological Surgery-mainly hysterectomies; Plastic Surgery/Breast Reconstruction-mastectomies; Cystic Fibrosis and
medical patients as well. Additional Specialty Surgeries: Whipple Surgery, Pectus Surgery, Specialize in surgery and do share medical
patients as hospital doesn’t have a specific medical unit.
- Experience or 'Must have' skills: Must have 2 years of MedSurg experience- would love to have more. Must be proficient with central
lines, NG tube management, ostomies, drain management, professional communication. Experience with CBIs and foley management
preferred.
- Are RNs required to titrate drips: no.
- Common titratable &/or set rate drips: heparin
- Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift: Charge nurse, does not have a patient assignment. Have unit leadership- assistant nurse
managers and manager to support, coverage for leadership day and night, and weekend on call leadership coverage. Travelers may be
charge if needed and they have experience.
- Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit: CNA’s are at 1:8-10 ratio.
- RT Equipment: Cpap, high flow and bipap occasionally. If bipap dependent, the patient is transferred to higher level of care.
-. Are there tele/monitor techs on this unit: Remote tele monitoring. RNs are still required to be able to read strips.
- Shifts & Scheduling: 12 hours, 7-7. Scheduler enters travel support staff in after core staff. Scheduler works to ensure night shift for
example are 3 in a row for work/life balance.
- Weekend Requirement: Every other but may be more often if there is a need.
- Holiday Requirement: Will fill in if there is a need.
- Is there Call or a Standby requirement: no
- Floating Requirements: Floating to like units between our local hospitals- Meridian Medical Center and Nampa Medical Center is
required. Travelers are first to float. Med/surg floats to med/surg units when needed. Not super common.
- Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs provided: No specific color as long as clean and professional.
- How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation: 1 shift for unit specific orientation that follows hospital orientation and 1
didactic day with our educator to review unit specifics.

**This facility has a radius rule of 50 miles. To ensure adherence to this rule, we will require the candidates' perm address in the submittal to confirm they are outside of that specified radius before proceeding with the profile review.**
