Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and patient-focused Registered Nurse (RN) to provide comprehensive perioperative care in an Outpatient Surgery Center. The RN will deliver preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative nursing care, ensuring patients receive safe, efficient, and high-quality care throughout the surgical experience while collaborating with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative nursing care for ambulatory surgical patients.
- Perform patient assessments, verify medical histories, obtain informed consent, and prepare patients for surgery.
- Serve as a circulating nurse during surgical procedures while maintaining a sterile environment.
- Monitor patients recovering from anesthesia, including airway, pain management, vital signs, and overall recovery.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and other prescribed treatments.
- Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition and perioperative emergencies.
- Educate patients and families regarding surgical procedures, postoperative care, medications, activity restrictions, and discharge instructions.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, PACU staff, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Ensure compliance with AORN standards, infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Current ACLS certification required.
- PALS certification preferred or required based on patient population.
- Minimum 1 year of recent perioperative, operating room, ambulatory surgery, or PACU nursing experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing, sterile technique, surgical procedures, post-anesthesia recovery, and patient safety.
- Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred.
Pay Rate
$51.32 - $56.20/hour
