Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Perianesthesia (PACU) to provide specialized nursing care for patients recovering from anesthesia following surgical and procedural interventions. The PACU RN will assess patient status, monitor recovery, manage pain, and collaborate with the surgical and anesthesia teams to ensure safe, high-quality post-anesthesia care.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive assessments of patients during the immediate post-anesthesia recovery period
  • Monitor airway, respiratory status, cardiac rhythm, neurological status, and vital signs
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and pain management therapies as prescribed
  • Recognize and respond promptly to post-anesthesia complications and medical emergencies
  • Provide postoperative education and discharge instructions to patients and families
  • Prepare patients for transfer to inpatient units or discharge home
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, CRNAs, and other healthcare professionals
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
  • Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities
  • Participate in on-call coverage as required

Required Qualifications:

  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
  • Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Current ACLS certification required
  • PALS certification preferred or required for facilities caring for pediatric patients
  • Minimum 1–2 years of recent PACU, Perianesthesia, ICU, ER, or Critical Care nursing experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of post-anesthesia recovery, airway management, pain management, and emergency response
  • Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BSN preferred
  • CPAN (Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse) or CAPA (Certified Ambulatory Perianesthesia Nurse) certification preferred
  • Previous travel or contract nursing experience preferred
  • Experience caring for adult and pediatric surgical patients
  • Strong teamwork, adaptability, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced perioperative environment
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call schedules as required

Pay Rate
$77.24 - $82.11/hour
