Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) to provide specialized nursing care for patients requiring close monitoring and intermediate-level care. The PCU RN will assess patient conditions, administer treatments, monitor cardiac and respiratory status, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to promote positive patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized nursing care plans.
- Provide direct nursing care to patients requiring progressive or step-down level care.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and prescribed treatments.
- Monitor cardiac rhythms, vital signs, respiratory status, and hemodynamic stability.
- Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions.
- Manage patients with complex medical conditions, including post-operative, cardiac, respiratory, and neurological disorders.
- Operate and monitor telemetry equipment, infusion pumps, and other specialized monitoring devices.
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatments, and discharge planning.
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Current ACLS certification required.
- Minimum 1–2 years of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Step-Down, Telemetry, or Critical Care nursing experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of cardiac monitoring, telemetry interpretation, medication administration, and management of high-acuity patients.
- Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred.
Pay Rate
$52.85 - $57.72/hour
