***Will be required to float to ALL PCU/Tele Units within Inova Alexandria. Floating to other units to care will be within or below scope***# of Beds: PCU- 36Medical 36 Overflow- 11Observation-15Surgical- 42AHA BLS, AHA ACLS and NIHSS required1-2 years experience as long as proficient with neuro assessments and basic cardiac dripsMust have cardizem, amio, and heparin drip experienceMust have EPIC experienceMust have prior travel experienceMust be able to read/interpret strips and pass ECG examRatios: PCU, Overflow, Observation- 1:4 , Medical and Surgical- 1:5, may go to 1:6 (rarely)Floating: Will float between PCU, Observation, Overflow, Medical, and Surgical floors to meet the needs of the hospital- can work a different unit every shift. Possible but rare- may float to ICU for holds of lower acuity or ER to take boarders- ratios can stretch to 1:5 but typically 1:4Common Diagnosis/Types of Patients: Stroke r/o, chest pain, arrhythmias, abd pain, post surgicals, altered mental status, dehydration, AKI, CHF, GI hemorrhage, numbness, fever, sepsis, resp failureAre there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties? - 1:8-11 depending on unit.. Some units have secretariesRT Equipment: CPAP, high flow, need to be familiar if needing to increase O2 or respond to a situationAre there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors? - Must read and interpret, be able to perform EKG- be able to tell MD if change. Off site monitoring.Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) - Clock in by 0653 and clock out by 0723. Scheduling done by admin asst. to fill in needs. Expect travelers to be flexible to work where neeed. Ther is opportunity for over timeWeekend requirement: Minimum of 4 weekends shifts in a 6 week period Holidays: Holiday team will work if there is a needScrubs: NavyDrips: Required to titrate dripsOrientation: 3 shifts of orientation on 3 different units in addition to general facility orientation
