Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room (Travel)
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Travel Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse to join a high-acuity Level I Trauma Center. The ideal candidate is a skilled OR nurse with both scrub and circulating experience, capable of working in a fast-paced surgical environment that supports a wide variety of complex procedures, including trauma, neurosurgery, pediatrics, and organ transplantation.
Minimum Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
- Minimum 2 years of recent Level I Trauma OR experience.
- Previous travel nursing experience with at least 1–2 completed travel assignments (first-time travelers will not be considered).
- Scrub and circulating experience preferred.
Required Clinical Experience
Candidates must be comfortable caring for patients undergoing:
- Neurosurgery
- Trauma surgery
- Pediatric surgery
- Organ transplants (including kidney)
- Organ procurements
- Typical overnight trauma OR cases
Department Information
- 28 Operating Rooms
- 60–80 surgical cases per day
- EMR: Epic
- Hospital-provided scrubs
Service Lines
- Orthopedics (including total joints and orthopedic trauma)
- Adult and pediatric surgery
- General surgery
- Robotic surgery
- Organ transplantation (kidney)
- ENT
- Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
- Vascular & Thoracic Surgery
- Urology
- Pediatrics
Preferred Experience
- Neonatal and pediatric surgical experience
- Trauma surgery experience
Scheduling Requirements
- Weekend requirement: 2–3 shifts per 6-week schedule, typically Saturday or Sunday (efforts made to avoid scheduling both weekend days).
- Holiday requirement: At least one holiday.
Weekend Operations
- Saturday: Typically 5–6 ORs in operation.
- Sunday: Approximately 4 ORs for urgent cases.
- Night shift: 2 ORs remain operational for emergency cases.
Pay Rate
$63.39 - $68.27/hour
