Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room (OR) to provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care. The OR RN will prepare patients for surgery, assist during operative procedures, maintain a sterile environment, and collaborate with the surgical team to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess patients before surgery and develop individualized perioperative care plans
- Prepare operating rooms, equipment, instruments, and supplies for surgical procedures
- Circulate during surgical procedures and assist the surgical team as needed
- Maintain sterile technique and ensure compliance with infection prevention standards
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and other treatments as prescribed
- Monitor patient status before, during, and after surgery
- Perform accurate surgical counts with the surgical technologist
- Document perioperative care and patient outcomes in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and recovery room staff
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, patient safety standards, and facility policies
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program
- Current BLS certification required
- ACLS certification preferred or required based on assignment
- Minimum 1 year of recent Operating Room (OR) nursing experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing, sterile technique, surgical procedures, and patient safety
- Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred
Pay Rate
$64.28 - $69.16/hour
