Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room (OR) to provide perioperative nursing care before, during, and after surgical procedures. The OR RN will collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the surgical team to ensure a safe, sterile, and efficient surgical environment while delivering high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide preoperative, intraoperative, and immediate postoperative nursing care
- Prepare operating rooms with necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies
- Maintain a sterile surgical environment and ensure adherence to aseptic techniques
- Serve as a circulating nurse and assist with surgical procedures as assigned
- Assess patients before surgery and monitor patient status throughout procedures
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and blood products as prescribed
- Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and recovery staff
- Perform accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Verify patient identity, surgical site, and procedure according to safety protocols
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention standards, HIPAA regulations, and patient safety guidelines
- Participate in emergency procedures, quality improvement initiatives, and on-call coverage as required
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program
- Current BLS certification required
- ACLS certification preferred or required based on assignment
- Minimum 1 year of recent Operating Room (OR) nursing experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing, sterile technique, surgical procedures, and patient safety practices
- Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced surgical environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- BSN preferred
- CNOR (Certified Perioperative Nurse) certification preferred
- Experience in orthopedic, cardiovascular, neurosurgery, general surgery, robotic, vascular, or trauma procedures
- Previous travel or contract nursing experience preferred
- Strong teamwork, adaptability, and attention to detail
- Ability to work rotating call, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts as required
Pay Rate
$66.40 - $71.28/hour
