Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse – Operating Room (RN – OR) to provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care for patients undergoing surgical procedures. The OR RN will prepare patients and the operating room, assist during surgery as a circulating nurse, monitor patient safety, and collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the surgical team to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care before, during, and after surgical procedures
- Perform preoperative patient assessments and verify patient identity, surgical site, and informed consent
- Prepare operating rooms with appropriate equipment, instruments, medications, and supplies
- Function as the circulating nurse during surgical procedures while maintaining a sterile and safe environment
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and other healthcare professionals throughout the surgical process
- Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and treatments as prescribed
- Monitor patient condition throughout surgery and respond promptly to changes or emergencies
- Ensure accurate surgical counts of instruments, sponges, and sharps in collaboration with the surgical team
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
- Assist with patient positioning, specimen handling, and safe transfer to the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
- Adhere to infection prevention protocols, sterile techniques, patient safety standards, and regulatory requirements
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with perioperative nursing standards
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program
- Current BLS/CPR certification required
- ACLS certification preferred or required based on assignment
- Minimum 1 year of recent Operating Room (OR) nursing experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing practices, aseptic technique, surgical procedures, and patient safety standards
- Excellent communication, organizational, critical-thinking, and multitasking skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced surgical environment
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred
- Commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered, evidence-based care
Pay Rate
$72.68 - $77.56/hour
