Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room (OR) to provide safe, efficient, and high-quality perioperative nursing care. The OR RN will prepare patients for surgical procedures, maintain a sterile environment, coordinate care throughout the perioperative process, and collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the surgical team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The ideal candidate demonstrates excellent clinical judgment, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to patient safety.


Key Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care before, during, and after surgical procedures
• Perform pre-operative patient assessments and verify patient identity, surgical site, and informed consent
• Prepare operating rooms with the necessary equipment, instruments, supplies, and medications for scheduled procedures
• Serve as the circulating nurse during surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety and adherence to sterile techniques
• Assist with patient positioning, surgical site preparation, and implementation of surgical safety checklists
• Monitor patient condition throughout procedures and respond promptly to changes in patient status
• Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and treatments according to physician orders and facility protocols
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure efficient surgical workflow
• Maintain accurate counts of instruments, sponges, sharps, and surgical supplies according to facility policy
• Handle, label, and transport surgical specimens following established protocols
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical records (EMR) throughout the perioperative process
• Prepare patients for transfer to the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and provide comprehensive handoff communication
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention standards, AORN guidelines, patient safety protocols, and regulatory requirements
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, emergency response activities, and continuing education programs


Required Qualifications:

• Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
• Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Current BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required/preferred based on facility requirements
• Minimum 1–2 years of recent Operating Room nursing experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing practices, sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and infection prevention standards
• Excellent critical-thinking, clinical assessment, and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal abilities
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced surgical environment
• Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems preferred

Pay Rate
$72.68 - $77.56/hour
